Ana Avendaño is a native of Chile whose family immigrated to Canada as a result of political upheaval in 1973. Ana holds a Law degree from Georgetown University and is a certified Restorative Justice facilitator. She is a veteran trainer, educator, facilitator, and academic researcher with an emphasis on immigrant workers’ rights, workplace sexual harassment, and the intersection of various forms of discrimination that exist in workplaces. Ana founded Minga Strategies in 2019, after spending more than two decades in the labor movement and working with emerging and traditional non-profit organizations. Ana’s practice applies the themes of radical collaboration and dialogue with an approach that centers on equity and resilience. She has served both as a “guide by the side” and a dynamic participant in innovative community building that arises out of crises.
